Borg Mech-Digital Back-to-Back Adaptor Kit - Lockwood 3572 Mortice Lock - Suits 2000 and 4000 Series Keypads
The BL3572KITBTB is a back-to-back (BTB) adaptor kit from Borg for the Lockwood 3572 mortice lock. It lets Borg mechanical digital keypads work a Lockwood 3572 that is already in the door, with a keypad on each side, so a code is needed to open the door from either side. The kit suits Borg 2000 and 4000 Series keypads: order two, one for each face of the door, from Keypads for Smartlocks - see the keypads it takes.
It sits with the other Borg conversion kits in Scar & Adaptor Plates. New to battery-free keypad locks? Start with what a mechanical digital lock is, then how the Lockwood, Borg and Carbine ranges compare.
Usually ships same day if ordered before 11am AEST (excludes weekends and Queensland public holidays).
Key Features
- Back-to-back conversion for the Lockwood 3572 mortice lock - a Borg keypad on each side of the door (what a double-sided keypad set-up is).
- Works the Lockwood 3572 already in the door, so the mortice lock stays in service (the retrofit ecosystem).
- Takes Borg 2000 and 4000 Series keypads - two per door, such as the BL2000KSCNEW knob keypad or the BL2301KSC lever keypad (the keypads it takes).
- A code to get out as well as in - not for a door in a required exit path (no keypad on the egress side).
- Stainless steel, like the other Borg adaptor plates in Scar & Adaptor Plates.
- One of a matched set: the single-keypad BL3572KIT, the Lockwood 3582 back-to-back BL3582KITBTB and the Borg 5000 Series back-to-back BL50013572KBTB (item code family).
Suitable Uses
- Doors with a Lockwood 3572 mortice lock that need a code on both sides - identify the lock with existing door hardware in Measuring Your Door before ordering.
- Retrofits that keep a sound Lockwood 3572 in service rather than replacing the lock - see how bored cylindrical and mortice door prep differ.
- Controlling who leaves as well as who enters, on a door that is not a required exit path - double-sided keypad set-ups and doors in required exit paths.
- Pairing with Borg 2000 and 4000 Series keypad-only units from Keypads for Smartlocks, chosen with internal, external and marine grade options in mind - the complete Borg locks are in Digital Mechanical Locks.

What This Kit Converts and the Keypads It Takes
This kit is for the Lockwood 3572 mortice lock and suits Borg 2000 and 4000 Series keypads - a back-to-back door takes two, one for each side. If you plan to pair two different keypad models, or to use an Easicode Pro (ECP) keypad, ask us to confirm the pair before you order.

Which spindle a door needs depends on its thickness - measure the door and ask us to confirm before ordering. The extended spindle is a special order: read its special-order notice.

Frequently Asked Questions
Two. Back-to-back means a Borg keypad on each side of the door, both working the one Lockwood 3572 mortice lock, so order two Borg 2000 or 4000 Series keypads - for example a pair of BL2000KSCNEW knob keypads. The keypads we stock for it are listed under What This Kit Converts and the Keypads It Takes, and our double-sided lock guide explains the set-up.
Yes. With a keypad on each side, a code is needed to leave as well as to enter, so a back-to-back set-up is not for a door in a required exit path - see why an exit path needs no keypad on the egress side and doors in required exit paths. If only one side needs a keypad, compare the single-keypad BL3572KIT.
Match both the Lockwood lock and the Borg keypad series. This kit is for a Lockwood 3572 with Borg 2000 or 4000 Series keypads. A Lockwood 3582 with 2000 or 4000 Series keypads takes BL3582KITBTB, and a Lockwood 3572 with Borg 5000 Series keypads takes BL50013572KBTB. Not sure which lock is fitted? Start with identifying your existing door hardware.
Measure the door first, then ask us to confirm - we will match the spindle to the door. The spare spindles for Borg mortice lock conversions are the standard BLMORTSPDL and the extended BLMORTSPDL120 for thicker doors, and how to measure door thickness is in Measuring Your Door.
The key override conversion for the Lockwood 3572 in the Borg 2000 and 4000 Series range is a separate plate, 09351550 (BL3572KOR), sold as the 3572 conversion with key override. Ask us before planning key override into a back-to-back set-up; why key override can be important covers when it matters.
Additional Information
- Convert or replace: an adaptor kit keeps a sound Lockwood lock working and changes how it is opened - the thinking behind the retrofit ecosystem, and why spare parts support matters for the years after fitting.
- Code changes belong to the keypads: Easicode Pro keypads such as the BL2401KSCECP change code on the door (the Easicode Pro method), while other Borg keypads change On The Bench (standard Borg chambers). Anyone expecting to re-code, even once a year, should choose ECP keypads - what ECP means.
- Identify and measure first: confirm the lock is a Lockwood 3572 and measure the door before ordering - existing hardware, door thickness and measuring your lock backset (the Lockwood 3572 we list is a 60mm backset lock) - and ask us if anything is unclear.
- Fitting help: when DIY is appropriate sets out the line; if you would rather have it fitted, see advice and installation or professional supply and installation on the Gold Coast.
- The complete-lock route: Lockwood's own 3572DX is a complete DX keypad mortice lock with one keypad outside and free exit inside - see Lockwood DX on commercial door hardware and Lockwood vs Borg vs Carbine if you would rather replace the lock than convert it.
Warranty
All Borg locks are warranted against mechanical defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and service for a minimum of 12 months from date of sale. The warranty does not cover damage arising from misuse, vandalism, or improper installation. The lock must not be dismantled - doing so will invalidate the warranty. Proof of purchase required for all claims.

Choosing the Keypads
Both styles are on the list for this kit. Knob keypads: BL2000KSCNEW (satin chrome), BL2000KPB (polished brass), BL2201KSCECP (Easicode Pro), BL2600KMG (external grade) and BL2601KMGPRO (Marine Grade Pro). Lever keypads: BL2301KSC (satin chrome), BL2401KSCECP (Easicode Pro) and the 4000 Series BL4401KMGPRO and BL4401KMGPROECP. Ask us to confirm your pair before ordering, particularly if the two sides will not match - you can browse keypads in Keypads for Smartlocks.
Choose each keypad for where it sits. For a weather-facing side, look at the external grade BL2600KMG or the Marine Grade Pro keypads BL2601KMGPRO, BL4401KMGPRO and BL4401KMGPROECP, and check each keypad's own page for where it may be used. Internal, external and marine grade options and do you always need MG Pro? explain the choice.
If you expect to change the code, yes. ECP keypads such as BL2201KSCECP, BL2401KSCECP and BL4401KMGPROECP change code on the door (Borg Easicode Pro on-door change), while other Borg keypads are re-coded On The Bench (the bench method). A back-to-back door carries two keypads, so anyone who expects to re-code - even yearly - is better served by ECP; do you always need ECP? weighs it up.
Your Lock, Your Door and the Alternatives
Identify the mortice lock before you order. Existing door hardware in Measuring Your Door walks through the common set-ups, including mortice lever and escutcheon and mortice with longplate furniture, and the lock itself is listed as the Lockwood 3572 Universal Primary Mortice Lock. If the door has a Lockwood 3582 instead, the back-to-back kit is BL3582KITBTB. Still unsure? Ask for a qualified locksmith recommendation.
No - the kit works the Lockwood 3572 already in the door, which is the point of an adaptor kit (the retrofit ecosystem). If the lock body itself needs replacing, we list the Lockwood 3572 mortice lock, which both this kit and the single-keypad BL3572KIT are made for; if you would rather fit a complete keypad lock instead, compare Lockwood's 3572DX.
They take different approaches. The 3572DX is a complete Lockwood DX keypad mortice lock with one keypad outside and free exit inside, and the 3572DXKO adds key override; this kit keeps your existing Lockwood 3572 and puts a Borg keypad on each side. Lockwood DX on commercial door hardware and which brand to choose cover the trade-offs.
Fitting and Everyday Use
That depends on your experience with mortice lock hardware. Our guide to when DIY is appropriate sets out the line, and wrong spindle position is a common mistake to avoid. If you would rather not, see advice and installation, or book a free site survey or professional supply and installation on the Gold Coast.
No. Borg keypads are mechanical digital - the code is set in a mechanical coding chamber, with no batteries or wiring - and the kit itself is stainless steel hardware. How a mechanical digital lock works explains the mechanism, and mechanical digital lock vs smart lock compares the two if you want app or remote access instead.
Keep a record of the code: knowing the current code is the first rule of any code change, and when to call a locksmith covers the cases that need help. The key override conversion for the Lockwood 3572 is the separate 09351550 plate - ask us before planning it into a back-to-back set-up.
