Borg Mech-Digital BL3582KIT Adaptor Kit - Lockwood 3582 Mortice Lock - Suits 2000 and 4000 Series Keypads
The Borg BL3582KIT is the adaptor kit for a Lockwood 3582 mortice lock: it lets a Borg mechanical digital keypad work the Lockwood lock already in the door, so the door moves to battery-free code entry without replacing the lock. It suits Borg 2000 and 4000 Series keypads - order the kit together with a keypad-only unit such as the BL2000KSCNEW knob keypad. Every keypad we stock for it is listed under What This Kit Converts and the Keypads It Takes, and you can browse keypads in Keypads for Smartlocks.
It belongs to Borg's family of Lockwood conversions in our Scar & Adaptor Plates range: BL3572KIT is the kit for a Lockwood 3572, the 09351500 (BL3582KOR) adaptor plate converts a Lockwood 3582 with key override, and BL3582KITBTB puts a Borg keypad on each side of the door. If keypad locks that need no batteries are new to you, start with what a mechanical digital lock is in Buyer's Guide Chapter 16.
Usually ships same day if ordered before 11am AEST (excludes weekends and Queensland public holidays).
Key Features
- Converts a Lockwood 3582 mortice lock to Borg keypad code entry while the lock stays in the door - the approach explained in the retrofit ecosystem.
- Suits Borg 2000 and 4000 Series keypad-only units (the ones we stock are listed under compatibility); for a Borg 5000 Series keypad on a Lockwood 3582, the matching kit is BL50013582K.
- Single-keypad kit - the back-to-back (BTB) version, with a Borg keypad on each side of the door, is BL3582KITBTB.
- Want a key as well as a code? The Lockwood 3582 conversion with key override is the 09351500 (BL3582KOR) adaptor plate - see why key override can be important.
- Stainless steel, listed with the Borg adaptor plates on page 43 of the BDS security products catalogue.
- Fully mechanical once fitted with a Borg keypad: no batteries, wiring or app (how a mechanical digital lock works).
Suitable Uses
- Doors that already have a sound Lockwood 3582 mortice lock, where the owner wants code entry without replacing the lock - confirm what is fitted first with existing door hardware in Measuring Your Door (Chapter 2).
- Commercial doors fitted with a Lockwood 3582 - for doors in heavy daily use, read commercial and heavy duty (Chapter 16) and commercial door hardware before choosing a keypad.
- Doors where battery-free, app-free code entry suits better than a smart lock (mechanical digital lock vs smart lock); complete Borg locks are in Digital Mechanical Locks.
- Sites converting several Lockwood doors: the BL3572KIT (Lockwood 3572) and BL002KIT (Lockwood 002 deadlatch) kits take the same Borg 2000 and 4000 Series keypads, so the same Borg keypad model can be used across the site.

What This Kit Converts and the Keypads It Takes
BL3582KIT converts a Lockwood 3582 mortice lock and takes a single Borg 2000 or 4000 Series keypad-only unit: choose a keypad-only unit from the first table and order it with the kit. If you choose an Easicode Pro (ECP) keypad, ask us to confirm it with this kit before you order. If you would rather replace the 3582 than convert it, the second table shows that route.
Other ways to do the same job:
Accessories and Spares
Thicker doors take the extended spindle. Measure the door first (door thickness in Measuring Your Door) and ask us if you are unsure which spindle suits.

Frequently Asked Questions
Any Borg 2000 or 4000 Series keypad-only unit from the compatibility table. Knob keypads: BL2000KSCNEW, BL2000KPB, BL2201KSCECP, BL2600KMG and BL2601KMGPRO. Lever keypads: BL2301KSC, BL4401KMGPRO and BL4401KMGPROECP. If the code will change regularly, pick an Easicode Pro (ECP) model - BL2201KSCECP, BL2401KSCECP or BL4401KMGPROECP (what ECP means).
BL3572KIT, or the 09351550 (BL3572KOR) plate if you want key override; BL3582KIT is made for the Lockwood 3582. The 3582 is the aluminium style Lockwood mortice lock and the Lockwood 3572 the timber style, but identify the lock itself rather than going by the door - see existing door hardware in Measuring Your Door, or send us a photo of the lock.
Yes, with a different plate: the Lockwood 3582 conversion with key override is 09351500 (BL3582KOR). Order that plate with your Borg 2000 or 4000 Series keypad in place of BL3582KIT. For when a key is worth having, read why key override can be important.
Check with us using your measurement. Thicker doors take the extended BLMORTSPDL120 spindle in place of the standard BLMORTSPDL; measure the door (door thickness in Measuring Your Door) and send us the figure with a photo of the lock, and we will confirm the set-up before you order.
Keep it if the lock is in good working order - BL3582KIT is the keep-the-3582 route. If the lock has to go, fit a Borg lock supplied with the 28mm Ali-Latch, such as the BL2002SC, with the FPBLS27CONV face plate so the latch suits the door edge cut for the 3582. Unsure which suits your door? Our advice and installation team can help.
Additional Information
- Keep the lock, add the keypad: converting a sound Lockwood 3582 avoids replacing the mortice lock - see the retrofit ecosystem and why spare parts and support matter with Borg conversions.
- Code changes depend on the keypad: Easicode Pro (ECP) keypads change code on the door (Borg Easicode Pro on-door change, what ECP means); non-ECP Borg keypads are changed On The Bench (Borg standard chambers, the bench method). If the code will change even once a year, choose an ECP keypad.
- Identify and measure first: check the lock and its furniture (mortice lever and escutcheon, mortice with longplate furniture), then measure the door (door thickness) and the backset, which helps confirm which Lockwood lock you have (how to measure backset). A photo of the lock and door edge lets us confirm the kit and spindle.
- Professional fitting: two of the most common DIY installation mistakes are wrong spindle position and door misalignment; see when DIY is appropriate, or use our advice and installation service and professional supply and installation.
Warranty
All Borg locks are warranted against mechanical defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and service for a minimum of 12 months from date of sale. The warranty does not cover damage arising from misuse, vandalism, or improper installation. The lock must not be dismantled - doing so will invalidate the warranty. Proof of purchase required for all claims.

Choosing the Right Lockwood 3582 Kit
The number of keypads. BL3582KIT is the single-keypad kit, for one Borg 2000 or 4000 Series keypad on the door. BL3582KITBTB is the back-to-back (BTB) kit, with a Borg keypad on each side of the door, so a code is needed from both sides - read what double-sided means and doors on exit paths before choosing it.
Yes - BL50013582K, which is sold for outward-opening doors only. Match the kit to the keypad series: Borg 2000 and 4000 Series keypads go with BL3582KIT, and 5000 Series keypads with BL50013582K. The full family is in the item code family table on this page, and you can browse conversion plates in Scar & Adaptor Plates.
Confirm it with us before ordering. The 5000 Series kit for the Lockwood 3582 is sold for outward-opening doors only, so door swing is worth checking on any 3582 conversion. Work out whether your door opens in or out (how to determine door handing, handing in Measuring Your Door) and send us that with a photo of the lock.
BL3582KIT is sold for the Lockwood 3582 mortice lock. A Lockwood 3572 takes BL3572KIT (or 09351550 with key override), and a Lockwood 002 deadlatch takes BL002KIT. Lockwood's Selector-series mortice locks are a separate platform, so for one of those - or any lock you cannot identify - send us a photo first (existing door hardware).
Keypads, Codes and Finishes
The Easicode Pro (ECP) keypads: BL2201KSCECP (knob), BL2401KSCECP and the Marine Grade Pro (MG Pro) BL4401KMGPROECP (lever). ECP codes are changed on the door - see Borg Easicode Pro: the on-door change and what ECP means. If the code will change even once a year, choose one of these, and ask us to confirm your ECP keypad with the kit before you order.
On The Bench rather than on the door, which takes longer (how long a code change really takes). The non-ECP keypads for this kit are BL2000KSCNEW, BL2000KPB, BL2301KSC, BL2600KMG, BL2601KMGPRO and BL4401KMGPRO; see Borg standard chambers and when to call a locksmith.
No. Borg keypads are mechanical digital: they work without batteries, wiring or an app (how a mechanical digital lock works). For how they compare with smart locks, see mechanical digital lock vs smart lock; complete Borg locks are in Digital Mechanical Locks.
The finish comes from the keypad you order; this kit is stainless steel. Satin chrome: BL2000KSCNEW, BL2301KSC, BL2201KSCECP and BL2401KSCECP. Polished brass: BL2000KPB. Chrome plated, external grade: BL2600KMG. Black Marine Grade Pro: BL2601KMGPRO, BL4401KMGPRO and BL4401KMGPROECP (what MG Pro means).
Fitting, Spares and the Replace Route
Use a locksmith unless you are confident working on mortice locks and door furniture. Two of the most common DIY installation mistakes are wrong spindle position and door misalignment, and when DIY is appropriate helps you decide. We offer advice and installation and site surveys, or ask for a qualified locksmith recommendation.
Yes. BLMORTSPDL is the standard spindle and BLMORTSPDL120 the extended spindle for thicker doors; the extended spindle is a special order, so read its special order note first. The Borg mortice lock spindle is shown on page 45 of the BDS security products catalogue.
Borg locks supplied with the 28mm Ali-Latch, fitted with the FPBLS27CONV face plate so the latch suits the door edge cut for the 3582: BL2002SC (knob keypad), BL2202SC (knob keypad with holdback) and BL2702SCECP (Easicode Pro with key override). Send us photos of the lock and door edge before choosing.
Talk to us about the traffic first. For doors in heavy use all day, read what heavy duty actually means, when a heavy duty lock is worth it and commercial and heavy duty in Chapter 16; a site survey lets us recommend hardware for the door.
