Borg Mech-Digital Back-to-Back Adaptor Kit - Lockwood 3572 Mortice Lock - Suits 5000 Series Keypads
This Borg back-to-back (BTB) adaptor kit converts a Lockwood 3572 mortice lock that is already in the door so it can be worked by Borg 5000 Series mechanical digital keypads - one keypad on each side of the door. It is a stainless steel conversion part for an existing Lockwood lock, from our Scar & Adaptor Plates range.
A back-to-back door takes two Borg 5000 Series keypad-only units, such as the BL5000KSC / BL5000KSS lever keypad. The 5000 Series keypads this kit takes are listed under What This Kit Converts and the Keypads It Takes, and they sit in our Keypads for Smartlocks category. New to battery-free keypad locks? What Is a Mechanical Digital Lock? in Chapter 16 of our Buyer's Guide explains how they work.
Usually ships same day if ordered before 11am AEST (excludes weekends and Queensland public holidays).
Key Features
- Back-to-back (BTB) conversion for the Lockwood 3572 mortice lock: a Borg keypad on each side of the door (see What Is a Double-Sided Digital Mechanical Lock?).
- Takes Borg 5000 Series keypads, including the BL5000KSC / BL5000KSS, BL5000KMG and BL5401KSSDDA keypads and the Easicode Pro (ECP) BL5401KSSDDAECP.
- Stainless steel kit that keeps the Lockwood 3572 already in the door - the retrofit approach set out in The Retrofit Ecosystem.
- Battery-free: Borg keypads are fully mechanical, with no batteries to replace - see How a Mechanical Digital Lock Works.
- Code changing is set by the keypads you choose: ECP keypads change on the door (Borg Easicode Pro: The On-Door Change), non-ECP keypads change On The Bench (Borg Standard Chambers).
- Sister kits: BL50013572K is the single-keypad 5000 Series kit for the same lock, and BL3572KITBTB is the Lockwood 3572 back-to-back kit for Borg 2000 and 4000 Series keypads.
- Spare spindles: the standard BLMORTSPDL, and the extended BLMORTSPDL120 for thicker doors.
Suitable Uses
- Doors already fitted with a Lockwood 3572 mortice lock that is staying in place - identify the hardware with Existing Door Hardware in our Measuring Your Door chapter.
- Doors where a code is wanted on both sides, as long as the door is not part of a required exit path - see Doors in Required Exit Paths.
- Commercial doors already fitted with Lockwood mortice hardware, where keypad entry is wanted without replacing the lock - see Commercial & Heavy Duty and Better Suited to Commercial Door Hardware.
- Battery-free code entry in place of an electronic smart lock - compare the two in Mechanical Digital Lock vs Smart Lock.

What This Kit Converts and the Keypads It Takes
This kit converts the Lockwood 3572 mortice lock and takes Borg 5000 Series keypads, one on each side of the door. The table lists the lock, the 5000 Series keypad-only units it takes (also in Keypads for Smartlocks) and the complete Borg 5000 Series locks from the same keypad family. If you choose the Easicode Pro (ECP) keypad, ask us to confirm it with this kit before you order.
Other ways to do the same job:
Accessories and Spares
Choose the spindle once the door is measured - see Door Thickness - and check the ordering note on the BLMORTSPDL120 page before ordering the extended spindle.

Frequently Asked Questions
Two. Back-to-back means a Borg 5000 Series keypad on each side of the door, so the kit pairs with two keypad-only units - for example two BL5000KSC / BL5000KSS lever keypads. The keypads we stock for it are listed under What This Kit Converts and the Keypads It Takes, and What Is a Double-Sided Digital Mechanical Lock? explains the set-up.
Yes. With a keypad on both faces of the door, a code is needed to leave as well as to enter, so a back-to-back set-up is not for a door that forms a required exit path - see Not for Required Exit Paths and Doors in Required Exit Paths. Where people must be able to leave freely, Lockwood's 3572DX pairs an outside keypad with free exit from inside.
Choose by where you want the code. This kit puts a Borg 5000 Series keypad on both sides of the Lockwood 3572; BL50013572K is the 5000 Series kit for the same lock with a single keypad. Compare every kit in the item code family table, or ask us for a recommendation.
A 3582 kit - this one is for the Lockwood 3572. For a Lockwood 3582 with a Borg 5000 Series keypad the kit is BL50013582K, for outward-opening doors only; the back-to-back kit for a 3582 is BL3582KITBTB, for Borg 2000 and 4000 Series keypads. Not sure which lock you have? Existing Door Hardware in our Measuring Your Door chapter shows what to check.
Thicker doors take the extended spindle. The standard spare spindle is BLMORTSPDL, and BLMORTSPDL120 is the extended version for thicker doors. Measure the door as shown in Door Thickness and ask us to confirm what your door needs before you order.
Additional Information
- Retrofit, not replacement: keeping the Lockwood 3572 in the door and adding Borg keypads is the approach set out in The Retrofit Ecosystem, and parts support matters as much as the first fit - see Spare Parts and Support Matter.
- Plan code changes before choosing keypads: Easicode Pro keypads change code on the door (What Does ECP Mean?); non-ECP keypads change On The Bench (The Bench Method). If codes will change regularly, even once a year, choose ECP keypads - Do You Always Need ECP? sets out the trade-off.
- Identify and measure first: the 3572 and 3582 take different kits and thicker doors take the extended spindle, so check the lock type (Bored Cylindrical vs Mortice Door Prep, Mortice Lever & Escutcheon) and the door thickness (Door Thickness) before ordering.
- Professional fitting: a back-to-back conversion means work on a mortice lock from both faces of the door. When DIY Is Appropriate in Chapter 12 sets out when to call a professional, and our advice and installation service can help.
- The complete-lock route: Lockwood's own 3572DX is a complete keypad mortice lock with a single outside keypad and free exit from inside - the Lockwood DX route for mortice doors covered in Better Suited to Commercial Door Hardware.
Warranty
All Borg locks are warranted against mechanical defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and service for a minimum of 12 months from date of sale. The warranty does not cover damage arising from misuse, vandalism, or improper installation. The lock must not be dismantled - doing so will invalidate the warranty. Proof of purchase required for all claims.

Choosing the Keypads
It takes these Borg 5000 Series keypad-only units: the BL5000KSC / BL5000KSS and BL5000KMG lever keypads, and the BL5401KSSDDA and BL5401KSSDDAECP flat bar lever keypads (the second is Easicode Pro). A back-to-back door needs two, one for each side. Already have a Borg keypad? Ask us to check it before you order, or browse Keypads for Smartlocks.
Easicode Pro (ECP) keypads, such as the BL5401KSSDDAECP. An ECP code change is done on the door rather than on the bench - Borg Easicode Pro: The On-Door Change covers the method, with The 3000 and 5000 series in action for the 5000 Series, and What Does ECP Mean? explains the term. If the code will change regularly, even once a year, ECP keypads are the practical choice - ask us to confirm them with this kit before you order.
On The Bench. The BL5000KSC / BL5000KSS, BL5000KMG and BL5401KSSDDA are non-ECP keypads, so a code change is a bench job rather than a quick change on the door - Borg Standard Chambers: Series Notes covers the 5000 Series specifics, and How Long Does a Code Change Really Take? gives realistic times. Expecting to re-code, even yearly? Choose an ECP keypad instead.
Ask us before relying on that pairing - we will check your lock and keypads before you order. The BL5051 and BL5051MGPROECP are complete Borg 5000 Series back-to-back locks from the same 5000 Series keypad family this kit takes.
Checking the Lock and the Door
Start with the hardware and a tape measure. Existing Door Hardware in Chapter 2 of our Buyer's Guide shows the mortice formats (mortice lever and escutcheon, mortice with longplate furniture), and Measuring Your Lock Backset shows how to measure backset - the Lockwood 3572 we list is a 60mm backset lock, while the Lockwood 3582 is a short backset lock that takes a 3582 kit. Still unsure? Ask us for a recommendation.
A 2000 and 4000 Series kit - match the kit to the keypad series. For a keypad on each side of a Lockwood 3572 it is BL3572KITBTB (see the keypads it takes); for one keypad it is BL3572KIT. This kit, BL50013572KBTB, is the Borg 5000 Series version.
In this adaptor family, key override comes with the key override (KOR) plate 09351550 (BL3572KOR), the Lockwood 3572 conversion with key override for Borg 2000 and 4000 Series keypads. Lockwood's own 3572DXKO is a keypad mortice lock with key override. Key Override Can Be Important explains when it matters.
Fitting and Alternatives
A locksmith or experienced installer is the safer choice unless you are confident with mortice lock work: the kit converts the lock already in the door and puts a keypad on each face, and a wrong spindle position is one of the most common fitting mistakes (Wrong spindle position). Gold Coast customers can book professional supply and installation or a free site survey, and our advice and installation page covers the options.
Convert when you want to keep the Lockwood 3572 and have a Borg keypad on both sides. Choose a complete lock when one outside keypad with free exit from inside suits the door better - Lockwood's 3572DX does that as a complete 3572 keypad mortice lock. For the brand choice, compare The Three Ranges in Chapter 16 and Lockwood vs Borg vs Carbine; complete Borg locks are in Digital Mechanical Locks.
No. Borg keypads are mechanical digital - the code works through the keypad's own mechanism, with no batteries, wiring or app. See the Borg brand profile, Inside the coding chamber, and Mechanical Digital Lock vs Smart Lock for how they compare with electronic locks.
