Borg Mech-Digital BL50013582K Adaptor Kit - Lockwood 3582 Mortice Lock - Outward-Opening Doors Only - Suits 5000 Series Keypads
The Borg BL50013582K adaptor kit converts an existing Lockwood 3582 mortice lock to run from a Borg 5000 Series mechanical digital keypad, so the lock already in the door gains keypad entry. Borg sells this kit for outward-opening doors only, so confirm which way your door opens before you order (see how to determine your door's handing).
The kit takes a Borg 5000 Series keypad-only unit. Borg offers its BL5000KSC / BL5000KSS lever keypad alongside this kit; the other 5000 Series keypads it takes are in the compatibility table below, and Borg keypad-only units are in our Keypads for Smartlocks category. The kit itself is stainless steel and sits with the other Borg conversions in our Scar & Adaptor Plates range.
Usually ships same day if ordered before 11am AEST (excludes weekends and Queensland public holidays).
Key Features
- Converts an existing Lockwood 3582 mortice lock to Borg keypad entry, keeping the lock in the door - the retrofit route rather than a new lock.
- Made for outward-opening doors only - check your door's handing and swing before ordering.
- Takes Borg 5000 Series keypads, including the BL5000KSC / BL5000KSS lever keypad Borg offers alongside it - see the compatible keypads.
- Battery-free once converted: Borg keypads are fully mechanical, with no batteries to replace.
- Stainless steel in a single finish - see our Scar & Adaptor Plates range.
- Spare spindles available: the standard BLMORTSPDL and the extended BLMORTSPDL120 for thicker doors.
Suitable Uses
- Outward-opening doors already fitted with a Lockwood 3582 mortice lock - identify your existing hardware first (see the mortice lever and escutcheon and mortice with longplate layouts).
- Doors where the existing Lockwood 3582 is in good order and worth keeping - the retrofit approach of adding a Borg keypad to sound hardware.
- Sites standardising on Borg 5000 Series keypads, including sites with complete Borg 5000 Series locks such as BL5001 from our Digital Mechanical Locks range.
- Commercial doors fitted with Lockwood mortice hardware - before choosing the keypad, check what commercial doors ask of a mechanical digital lock and our notes on commercial mortice door hardware.

What This Kit Converts and the Keypads It Takes
BL50013582K converts a Lockwood 3582 mortice lock on an outward-opening door and takes Borg 5000 Series keypads: the first table lists the lock, the 5000 Series keypad-only units and the complete Borg 5000 Series locks in the same keypad family. If you choose the Easicode Pro (ECP) keypad, ask us to confirm it with this kit before you order. The second table is the replace-the-lock route, shown with a Borg 2000 Series lock supplied with the 28mm Ali-Latch.

Frequently Asked Questions
No - Borg sells BL50013582K for outward-opening doors only. Check which way your door opens with our guide to door handing and how to determine your door's handing, or the handing section of Chapter 02. If your 3582 door opens inward, ask us before you order anything and we can talk that door through with you.
A Borg 5000 Series keypad-only unit. Borg offers its BL5000KSC / BL5000KSS lever keypad (satin chrome or satin stainless steel) alongside this kit, and you will also find the external grade BL5000KMG and the BL5401KSSDDA and BL5401KSSDDAECP flat bar lever keypads in the compatibility table.
No - BL50013582K is the Lockwood 3582 kit. For a Lockwood 3572 with Borg 5000 Series keypads, order BL50013572K instead. If you are not sure which lock is in the door, identify your existing hardware first or ask us; every kit is side by side in the item code family table.
The key override conversions in this family are the two key override (KOR) plates: 09351500 for the Lockwood 3582 and 09351550 for the 3572. Both are sold for Borg 2000 and 4000 Series keypads, so if your 3582 door needs key override with a 5000 Series keypad, talk to us before ordering. See why key override can matter on commercial doors.
Thicker doors take the extended BLMORTSPDL120 spindle rather than the standard BLMORTSPDL. Measure your door as shown in Chapter 02: door thickness and ask us to confirm which spindle your door needs before you order.
Additional Information
- Converting keeps the lock you have: an adaptor kit is part of the retrofit ecosystem - a Borg keypad on the Lockwood mortice lock already in the door, with spare parts support behind it.
- Choose the keypad for the code changes you expect: the code is set in the keypad, not the kit. The Easicode Pro (ECP) keypad in the compatibility table, BL5401KSSDDAECP, changes on the door, while the non-ECP 5000 Series keypads change On The Bench. If you expect to re-code, even once a year, choose ECP - what ECP means.
- Three checks before ordering: confirm the lock is a Lockwood 3582 (existing hardware), that the door opens outward (handing) and how thick the door is (door thickness) - all three are in Chapter 02.
- Have it fitted if in doubt: spindle position and door alignment are two of the common fitting mistakes (spindle, misalignment); see when DIY is appropriate, or use our advice and installation service - Terry's also offers professional supply and installation on the Gold Coast.
- Replacing the 3582 instead: if you would rather replace the lock than convert it, the BDS FPBLS27CONV face plate lets a Borg lock supplied with the 28mm Ali-Latch, such as BL2002SC, fill the 3582 cut-out - a Borg 2000 Series route rather than the 5000 Series keypads this kit takes.
Warranty
All Borg locks are warranted against mechanical defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and service for a minimum of 12 months from date of sale. The warranty does not cover damage arising from misuse, vandalism, or improper installation. The lock must not be dismantled - doing so will invalidate the warranty. Proof of purchase required for all claims.

BL50013582K Adaptor Kit - FAQ, Fitting and Buying Guide
Questions buyers ask about converting a Lockwood 3582 on an outward-opening door to a Borg 5000 Series keypad. For the bigger picture, see Chapter 16: Mechanical Digital Locks and Chapter 13: Smart Lock FAQ in our Smart Lock Buyer's Guide.
Choosing the Right Kit
Choose the kit by keypad series. BL50013582K is sold for Borg 5000 Series keypads; for a Lockwood 3582 with a 2000 or 4000 Series keypad, the kit is BL3582KIT, and the 3582 key override plate 09351500 is sold for those series too. Both sit with this kit in our Scar & Adaptor Plates category.
Not with 5000 Series keypads from this kit family. The back-to-back (BTB) kits - a Borg keypad on each side of the door - are BL50013572KBTB for a Lockwood 3572 with 5000 Series keypads and BL3582KITBTB for a Lockwood 3582 with 2000 and 4000 Series keypads. For 5000 Series keypads on both sides of a 3582 door, ask us before ordering, and remember that a keypad on the inside means a code to get out as well as in (not for required exit paths).
Convert it if you want to keep the Lockwood 3582 and use a Borg 5000 Series keypad - that is the job this kit does on an outward-opening door, and the retrofit route. Replace it if you would rather fit a new Borg lock: the BDS FPBLS27CONV face plate lets a Borg lock supplied with the 28mm Ali-Latch, such as BL2002SC, fill the 3582 cut-out. The face plate suits Borg 2000 Series locks with that latch (see its compatibility list), so that route changes the keypad series too. The 3582 cut-out is explained in the face plate FAQ.
Keypads, Codes and Everyday Use
Of the 5000 Series keypad-only units for this kit, the Easicode Pro (ECP) keypad, BL5401KSSDDAECP. ECP keypads change their code on the door - see Borg Easicode Pro: the on-door change, the 5000 Series ECP demonstration and what ECP means. Ask us to confirm your ECP keypad with this kit before you order.
BL5000KSC / BL5000KSS, BL5000KMG and BL5401KSSDDA are non-ECP keypads, so their codes are changed On The Bench (Borg standard chambers, the bench method, how long it really takes). If you expect to re-code, even once a year, choose the ECP keypad instead; if you are unsure, read do you always need ECP.
No. Borg keypads are mechanical - the code is held in a mechanical coding chamber, so there are no batteries, wiring or app (how a mechanical digital lock works). Borg specialises in battery-free keypad locks - see our Borg brand profile.
It works on a single code shared by everyone who uses the door, with no app, no remote access and no record of who came in - so removing someone's access means changing the code. If you need those features, look at an electronic lock instead: compare a mechanical digital lock with a smart lock, decide which you need and browse our Pin Code smart locks. For the full list, see what these locks will not do.
Measuring, Fitting and Documents
You will find the plate dimensions for BL50013582K on page 44 of the BDS Security Products Catalogue 2024/2025, and dimensioned drawings of the BL5000 Series keypads in the Borg BL5000 Series Brochure - both are in the PDF Files tab. Measure the door itself as shown in Chapter 02: door thickness.
Mortice lock work is usually a job for a locksmith - see when DIY is appropriate and when it isn't. Spindle position and door alignment are two of the common fitting mistakes (wrong spindle position, door misalignment). Terry's offers professional supply and installation and site surveys on the Gold Coast, or see our advice and installation page.
