Frequently Asked Questions
- Is this kit required for all Nexion Vision installations?
No. This kit is required only when installing Nexion Vision locksets on fire-rated door assemblies. Standard residential non-fire-rated doors do not require this kit. - Can this be used with Nexion Classic locksets?
No. The fire rated kit is designed exclusively for Nexion Vision locksets. Nexion Classic does not have a fire rated option and is not suitable for fire door applications. - Does this kit alone make any lockset fire rated?
No. Fire compliance is system-based. The complete fire door assembly (door, frame, hardware, seals) must be certified as a system. This kit enables Nexion Vision to be part of a compliant fire door system when installed correctly. - What door thicknesses does this kit support?
The kit supports fire door thicknesses from 35mm to 50mm. Mounting screws for thicker doors (46mm to 50mm) are included. - Is professional installation required?
Fire door hardware installation requires strict adherence to manufacturer instructions and fire certification requirements. Professional installation by a qualified locksmith or fire door specialist is strongly recommended to ensure compliance.
Additional Information
- Fire Door System Compliance:
Fire compliance depends on the complete doorset system including door core, frame, seals, glazing, and all hardware. The Nexion Vision lockset with fire rated kit must be installed on a certified fire door assembly to achieve fire rating. - Metal Mounting Plate Requirement:
The metal mounting plate replaces the standard plastic mounting components used in non-fire-rated installations. This metal plate is critical for maintaining structural integrity during fire exposure. - Installation Differences:
Fire rated installations differ from standard installations in several ways including mounting plate material, spindle length, strike configuration, and assembly method. Refer to installation instructions 5036M included in the kit. - Certification and Documentation:
Retain all documentation including fire door certification, lockset specifications, and installation records for building compliance verification and future reference. - Maintenance Considerations:
Fire door hardware must not be modified or substituted after installation. Any repairs or replacements must use approved components to maintain fire certification.
