Frequently Asked Questions
- How many Q-Key remotes can be programmed to one lockset?
Multiple Q-Key remotes can be programmed to a single Nexion Vision electronic lockset, allowing different family members or authorized users to have individual remote access. - Can I program a Q-Key remote myself?
Yes. Q-Key remotes can be programmed by following a simple sequencing procedure outlined in the lockset installation instructions. No locksmith is required for programming additional remotes. - What is encrypted rolling code technology?
Rolling code technology generates a new encrypted code with each use, preventing code grabbing or replay attacks. This ensures that intercepted signals cannot be used to gain unauthorized access. - Will this remote work with mechanical Nexion Vision locksets?
No. The Q-Key remote control is only compatible with electronic Nexion Vision locksets that have Q-Key functionality. It will not operate mechanical entrance locksets. - What happens if I lose my Q-Key remote?
Lost Q-Key remotes can be disabled through the lockset programming sequence to prevent unauthorized use. The lockset can still be operated manually with a physical key if the remote is unavailable.
Additional Information
- Operating Range:
The Q-Key remote has an effective operating range of up to 3 metres under normal conditions. Range may be affected by obstacles, electromagnetic interference, or battery condition. - Security Technology:
Encrypted rolling code technology ensures each activation generates a unique code, preventing unauthorized duplication or code capture. This provides security comparable to modern automotive remote systems. - Programming and Management:
Q-Key remotes can be added or disabled without requiring special tools or locksmith services. The programming sequence is designed for homeowner operation while maintaining security. - Feedback Confirmation:
When a Q-Key remote activates the lockset, the lock provides both audible beep and visual LED confirmation, allowing users to verify successful operation from a distance. - Replacement and Additional Remotes:
This remote serves as both a replacement for lost or damaged Q-Keys and as an additional remote for multiple users. Programming instructions are included with Nexion Vision electronic lockset documentation.
