Lockton E-Series Extended Strike Plate (29mm Retrofit) - Suits ELEV36 Hinged Smart Mortice Locks

The Lockton Art. SMLESTR-29 is an optional extended retrofit strike plate for hinged-door mortice locks in the LOCKTON E-Series Smart range, and for most Euro-profile mortice locks built to an 85mm pitch. It has a 197 x 29mm base plate with a 68mm-wide latching strike section.

Its 29mm width lets it retrofit cleanly over older extended strikes, while the extended lip suits deeper jamb installations - fitting jambs up to 90mm, where a standard strike suits up to 40mm. The lip also helps guide the latch smoothly into the jamb.

The plate is universally handed, so a single item covers both left-hand and right-hand hinged doors. It is passive hardware with no electronics, batteries, or setup - it fits in place of the existing strike during a standard installation or a repair.

Key Features

  • Deeper jamb capacity: The extended lip suits door jambs up to 90mm, where a standard strike suits up to 40mm.
  • Clean retrofit over older strikes: The 29mm width lets it fit neatly over previously installed extended strikes.
  • Latch guidance: The extended lip helps guide the latch smoothly into the jamb.
  • Universally handed: One plate suits both left-hand and right-hand hinged doors, simplifying stock and installation.
  • Passive hardware: No electronics, batteries, or programming - it installs during standard door prep.

Installation & Compatibility

Installation
Before ordering, confirm the pitch, door type, and jamb depth
This plate suits hinged doors running a LOCKTON E-Series smart mortice lock or a Euro-profile mortice lock with an 85mm pitch, and is intended for deeper jambs up to 90mm. It is not for sliding-door hook-bolt mortice bodies. Measure the existing lock pitch and the jamb depth, and confirm the door is hinged, before ordering.

The extended lip is what sets this strike apart from a standard one - it reaches further into a deeper jamb (up to 90mm, versus around 40mm for a standard strike) and guides the latch cleanly into the pocket. The 29mm width also lets it sit neatly over an older extended strike during a retrofit. It fits during standard door prep, in place of the existing strike.

Frequently Asked Questions

How deep a jamb does it suit?
The extended lip fits jambs up to 90mm, where a standard strike suits up to around 40mm. Measure your jamb depth to confirm before ordering.
Can I fit it over an older extended strike?
Yes. The 29mm width is designed to retrofit cleanly over a previously installed extended strike.
Which locks does it fit?
All LOCKTON E-Series smart mortice locks and most Euro-profile mortice locks built to an 85mm pitch. Measure your existing lock pitch to confirm before ordering.
Can I use it on a sliding door?
No. This is a strike plate for hinged doors. Sliding-door hook-bolt mortice bodies use a different striking arrangement.
How is this different from the 45mm strike plate?
Both are hinged-door extended strikes for the E-Series. This 29mm plate is narrower and built for deeper jambs (up to 90mm) with an extended lip for latch guidance, and retrofits over older extended strikes. The 45mm plate is a wider full-size plate aimed at covering and reinforcing break-in damage.

Additional Information

The strike plate is the metal plate on the door jamb that the latch or bolt engages. On a deeper jamb, a standard strike may not reach far enough to guide the latch cleanly, which can leave a door that does not close or latch reliably. The extended lip on this plate solves that by reaching further into the jamb - up to 90mm - so the latch is guided into the pocket as the door closes.

For the neatest result on a retrofit, remove the old strike and check the jamb cut-out is clean and square before fitting. If the jamb pocket needs deepening to suit the lip, do that before mounting so the plate sits flat. Confirm the lock pitch is 85mm and the door is hinged - this plate is not for sliding-door bodies.

The plate is a passive part - it does not change how the smart lock operates, its access methods, or its warranty. It is often specified where the door jamb is deeper than a standard strike allows, or to tidy up an older extended-strike installation.
