Lockton E-Series Extended Strike Plate (Large) - Suits ELEV36 Hinged Smart Mortice Locks

The Lockton Art. SMLESTR-45 is an optional extended strike plate for the LOCKTON E-Series ELEV36 hinged-door smart mortice range and most Euro-profile mortice locks built to an 85mm pitch. It replaces the shorter standard strike with a longer 260 x 45mm plate that spans a wider area of the door jamb.

Its main job is to cover and reinforce a jamb that has been damaged or broken into. The extended profile hides the old cut-out and provides a fresh mounting surface, while dual offset fixing points at the top and bottom drive the fixing screws into undamaged timber rather than the stripped central holes that a forced entry usually leaves behind.

The plate is universally handed, so a single item covers both left-hand and right-hand hinged doors. It is a passive piece of hardware with no electronics, batteries, or setup - it fits in place of the existing strike during a standard installation or a repair.

Key Features

  • Extended coverage: The 260mm plate spans a larger area of the jamb than a standard strike, hiding and reinforcing damaged or broken-in timber.
  • Dual offset fixing points: Screw holes at the top and bottom bite into fresh timber, avoiding the stripped central holes typically caused during a forced entry.
  • Universally handed: One plate suits both left-hand and right-hand hinged doors, simplifying stock and installation.
  • Retrofit or new fit: Suits an existing ELEV36 hinged installation or a fresh install; also fits most Euro-profile mortice locks with an 85mm pitch.
  • Passive hardware: No electronics, batteries, or programming - it installs during standard door prep.

Installation & Compatibility

Installation
Before ordering, confirm the pitch and door type
This plate suits hinged doors running a LOCKTON E-Series smart mortice lock or a Euro-profile mortice lock with an 85mm pitch. It is not intended for sliding-door hook-bolt mortice bodies. Measure the existing lock pitch (the distance between the spindle and the cylinder centres) and confirm the door is hinged before ordering.

Because the fixing points are offset to the top and bottom of the plate, they land in timber outside the original strike cut-out. This is what makes the plate useful after a forced entry - the screws grip fresh material rather than the enlarged or split holes left behind. The plate fits during standard door prep, in place of the shorter standard strike.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will this fix a jamb that was damaged in a break-in?
Yes - that is its main purpose. The extended plate covers the damaged area and the offset top and bottom fixing points let the screws bite into fresh timber rather than the stripped central holes a forced entry usually leaves.
Does it suit both left-hand and right-hand doors?
Yes. The plate is universally handed, so one item covers both hinged-door handings.
Which locks does it fit?
All LOCKTON E-Series smart mortice locks and most Euro-profile mortice locks built to an 85mm pitch. Measure your existing lock pitch to confirm before ordering.
Can I use it on a sliding door?
No. This is a strike plate for hinged doors. Sliding-door hook-bolt mortice bodies use a different striking arrangement.
Does it need any wiring or setup?
No. It is passive hardware with no electronics or batteries and fits during a standard door installation or repair.

Additional Information

A strike plate is only as strong as the timber behind it. After a forced entry the original cut-out and central fixing holes are usually enlarged or split, so simply refitting a standard strike into the same holes leaves the door as weak as before. The offset fixing points on this plate are what solve that - by moving the screws away from the damaged centre they anchor into sound material at the top and bottom of the plate.

For the best result on a repair, pack out any voids in the jamb with timber before fitting so the plate sits flat and the bolt engages cleanly. If the frame itself has moved or split beyond the plate footprint, a jamb repair or replacement may be needed as well as the plate.

The plate is a passive part - it does not change how the smart lock operates, its access methods, or its warranty. It is often ordered alongside the ELEV36 hinged lock during a new install where extra jamb coverage is wanted, or as a repair item after a break-in.
