FAQ icon Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the difference between the VEL0/L3SCDP and the VEL0/L3SC5?
The VEL0/L3SCDP is a single display pack - one lockset in retail packaging for single-door supply or trade replacement. The VEL0/L3SC5 is a builder's 5-pack of the same lockset in trade packaging. The lockset itself is mechanically identical in both packs.
  • Can I order a 70mm backset version?
The VEL0/L3SCDP is supplied with a 60mm backset latch as standard. A 70mm backset latch is available separately - order part number 530-222SC. The 70mm backset is appropriate when the door stile or existing lock cutout requires the greater distance from the door edge.
  • Can this lockset be keyed alike to other locks on the same property?
Yes. The Velocity Entrance Lockset can be keyed alike to other Lockwood door locks where the same key cylinder system is used. Specify keyed alike requirements at time of ordering. The lockset is also compatible with most restricted keying systems using the 001 inner barrel.
  • Is handing specified at time of ordering?
No. The Velocity Entrance Lockset is field-selectable for handing using the set screw supplied. Left-hand or right-hand operation can be set on site during installation - no handing specification is required at the point of order.
  • Is this lockset suitable for outward-opening doors?
Yes. The Velocity Entrance Lockset is suitable for both inward and outward opening timber doors. The automatic deadlatch and safety release function correctly in both configurations.

Additional Information icon Additional Information

  • Automatic Deadlatch:
The Velocity Entrance Lockset incorporates an automatic deadlatch. When the door is closed, the deadlatch bolt is automatically deadlocked by the auxiliary plunger bearing against the strike plate. This prevents the latch from being forced back with a thin tool. The safety release allows the latch to retract freely from the inside lever during normal operation.
  • Box Strike and Frame Strengthening:
The supplied box strike includes concealed crossgrain door frame strengthening screws. These screws anchor into the door frame at an angle to resist kick-in force, improving the overall security performance of the installation without additional hardware. The crossgrain screws should be installed as part of the standard fitting procedure.
  • Retrofit Suitability:
The 63mm Velocity rose is engineered to cover both the 50mm and 54mm door bore hole diameters commonly found in Australian residential door preparations. This makes the VEL0/L3SCDP suitable for direct replacement of most existing entrance locksets without requiring door re-boring.
  • Lever Styling Compatibility:
The Element L3 lever used in this entrance lockset is the same lever profile used across the Velocity Series passage, privacy, and dummy half sets. This allows a consistent lever appearance to be maintained across all doors in a home or project by specifying the L3 lever throughout the Velocity range.
  • Display Pack vs Builder's Pack:
The DP (Display Pack) suffix indicates single retail packaging. The same lockset is available in a 5-pack (VEL0/L3SC5) and a 5-pack keyed alike variant (VEL0/L3SC5KA) for multi-door builder supply.
