Installation and Styling Tips

  • Ensure proper alignment: When installing the oval mortice lock deadbolt, use a chisel to create a precise mortice pocket in the door. This will ensure the lock aligns correctly with the strike plate, providing optimal security and functionality.
  • Choose complementary finishes: Given that the deadbolt is made of stainless steel, consider pairing it with other stainless steel hardware such as door handles and hinges for a cohesive look. This will enhance the modern aesthetic of your entryway.
  • Consider door thickness: The installation of the deadbolt requires consideration of your door's thickness. Ensure that the lock is compatible with doors that are typically between 35mm to 45mm thick to avoid any issues during installation.
  • Style with smart technology: If you want to elevate the security of your entryway, consider pairing your deadbolt with a smart lock system. This addition can provide keyless entry, enhancing both convenience and security.
  • Maintain functionality: Regularly check the deadbolt for smooth operation. Apply a silicone-based lubricant to the keyhole and mechanism every few months to prevent sticking and ensure longevity.

Care Tips

  • For maintaining an oval mortice lock deadbolt, regularly clean the exterior with a damp cloth and mild soap to remove dirt and grime. Avoid abrasive cleaners that can scratch the stainless steel finish. After cleaning, dry thoroughly to prevent water spots and corrosion.
  • Lubricate the deadbolt mechanism every six months with a silicone-based spray lubricant. This prevents rust and ensures smooth operation. Avoid using oil-based lubricants as they can attract dust and grime, which may hinder the lock's performance over time.
  • If you encounter sticking or jamming when using the deadbolt, apply a small amount of graphite powder to the key and insert it into the lock several times. This will help reduce friction and improve the lock's functionality without introducing moisture that could lead to rust.

Finish care and maintenance
Proper maintenance, care, cleaning and polishing in accordance with Zanda's instructions are essential to retain a product's finish - particularly soft finishes or finishes that naturally age, such as Brushed Nickel, Satin Chrome, Polished Brass, Graphite Nickel, Matt Chrome, Unlacquered Brass, Matt Brass, Rumbled Brass, Roman Brass, Natural Bronze, Oil Rubbed, Satin Brass, Brushed Bronze, Antique Bronze, Buffed Bronze, Matt Antique Bronze, Venetian Bronze and Powdercoat. These finishes are subject to deterioration, corrosion and oxidation from conditions such as salt deposits, scratches from sharp objects, paint thinners and caustic agents. For care of stainless steel products, see the ASSDA guidance on preventing coastal corrosion and tea staining.
