LOX LMML2400 Outward Opening Mechanical Electro Magnetic Lock - 1000kg - Satin Anodised
The LOX LMML2400 is a slimline outward opening mechanical electro magnetic lock engineered for installations where door height restrictions, narrow profile door frames or appearance requirements prevent the use of standard magnetic locks. The patented design combines magnetic and mechanical principles to achieve a holding force of up to 1000kg while being approximately 75% smaller than a standard 600kg electro magnet.
Suitable for outward opening hinged doors, the LMML2400 provides full monitoring via Lock Status Sensor (LSS), Door Status Sensor (DSS) and Early Warning (EW) alarm outputs, and can be interfaced with building management and access control systems. It is 4 hour fire rated and operates at 12V or 24V DC dual voltage.

Full Specifications
LOX LMML2400 Series - Item Code Family
These are mechanically distinct products. Select based on door swing direction. The LMML2400LZ (inward) includes L and Z brackets to achieve the correct armature alignment; the LMML2400 (outward) does not require these brackets.
Frequently Asked Questions
- What is a mechanical electro magnetic lock and how does it differ from a standard mag lock?
A standard electromagnetic lock holds a door closed purely through magnetic attraction between the magnet body and the armature plate. The LMML2400 combines magnetic and mechanical principles to achieve a much higher holding force relative to its physical size. The result is 1000kg holding force from a unit approximately 75% smaller than a traditional 600kg magnet, making it suitable for installations where space is restricted. - Why is there a specific version for outward opening doors?
On an outward opening door, the armature plate is mounted on the door and the lock body is mounted on the door frame. The geometry of this arrangement differs from an inward opening door, which requires L and Z brackets (LMML2400LZ) to achieve correct alignment between the lock body and armature plate. The LMML2400 (without LZ suffix) is configured specifically for the outward opening application without those additional brackets. - What does the Early Warning (EW) alarm function do?
The Early Warning alarm provides an output signal before the door has been fully opened. This allows the access control system to detect that the door is being forced or held partially open before it is fully released, providing an additional layer of monitoring and security response capability. - Is the LMML2400 suitable for fire rated doors?
Yes. The LMML2400 is 4 hour fire rated when installed as part of an approved fire door assembly. Installation must comply with applicable building and fire safety regulations and the manufacturer's specified installation requirements for the fire rated configuration. - What is the difference in current draw between the LMML2400 and LMML2400LZ?
The LMML2400 (outward) draws 240mA at 12V DC and 120mA at 24V DC. The LMML2400LZ (inward) draws 350mA at 12V DC and 175mA at 24V DC. This difference is relevant when calculating power supply load for multi-lock installations.
Additional Information
- The LMML2400 is patented. The mechanical component of the locking action provides additional holding resistance beyond what magnetic attraction alone achieves, contributing to the high holding force relative to the compact dimensions.
- The side pressure release capability (up to 70kg) allows the door to be pushed open from the secured side under sufficient force - relevant for emergency egress scenarios. Confirm this is appropriate for the door's access control and egress requirements before specifying.
- The anti-tamper bracket is included to protect the armature plate's fixing bolt from being accessed and undone while the door is in the open position.
- Full monitoring outputs (LSS, DSS, EW) allow the access control system to distinguish between the lock being energised, the door being physically closed, and an early warning condition. This level of monitoring is commonly required on high-security or fire door applications.
- Installation must be carried out in accordance with the manufacturer's installation instructions and local building, electrical and fire safety regulations by a qualified installer.
