Lockwood 3772NSF8SS - Selector® 3772 MkII Universal Primary Escape Lock - HD Hub Spring, 8mm Hub, 60mm Backset, Satin Stainless Steel
The Lockwood 3772NSF8SS is a Selector® 3772 MkII universal primary escape lock built for demanding commercial and institutional doors. It is configured with a heavy-duty (HD) hub spring and an 8mm hub for solid spindle operation, and set for the standard 60mm backset. The lock body is finished in Satin Stainless Steel.
Lockwood is an ASSA ABLOY brand and one of the most widely specified door hardware ranges in Australia. The Selector® 3772 platform is engineered for high-traffic environments such as schools, hospitals, hotels, aged care, clubs, and commercial or industrial buildings, where a robust, serviceable mortice lock with an escape (always-free inside handle) function is required.
As a universal primary lock, the 3772 supports multiple latching functions through interchangeable cams and adaptors, and accepts Lockwood 570-type oval cylinders, including restricted and master key systems. The lock is non-handed and field reversible, so a single unit suits both left-hand and right-hand doors.
The standard Selector® 3772 escape lock is tested for use on fire door assemblies rated up to 4 hours to AS1905.1:2005 (components for the protection of openings in fire-resistant walls). Fire certification applies to the standard escape functions - holdback variants (for example 3772V-H, 3772XVH, 3772VTH) are not fire door rated. Always confirm the complete doorset is certified for the specific door type. For a plain-English explanation of fire door hardware certification, see Chapter 11 - AS1905.1 Fire Door Hardware and our guide to Australian fire door types and certification.

Frequently Asked Questions
No. The 3772NSF8SS is supplied as a lock body with faceplate, strike, fixing screws and instructions. It accepts Lockwood 570-type oval cylinders, so order the cylinder separately to suit your keying system - standard, restricted, or master keyed.
The hub is the part of the lock that the spindle passes through to operate the latch. This build uses an 8mm hub paired with a heavy-duty return spring, which gives firmer handle return and longer service life on busy doors. The 3772NSFSS is the same HD-spring build with a standard hub, and the 3772SS is the standard build.
Yes. The standard Selector® 3772 escape functions are tested for fire door assemblies up to 4 hours to AS1905.1:2005. Holdback variants are not fire door rated. Fire certification applies to the complete doorset, so confirm all hardware and the door itself are certified for the specific door type. See why you cannot simply swap a lock on a fire door.
No. The 3772 is non-handed and field reversible, so one lock suits both left-hand and right-hand doors. If you are unsure how handing is described in Australia, see our guide to door handing in Australia.
Yes. The 3772 body accepts the Lockwood DX mechanical digital keypad conversion kit (3772-DXKITSC, or 3772-DXKOKITSC with key override), so a mechanical door can be upgraded to PIN access without replacing the lock case. A factory-built digital version is also available as the 3572DX.
Additional Information
The 3772 uses an easy red/green function setting under the faceplate, so the installer can confirm and change the latching behaviour on site without dismantling the lock. Combined with the reduced cam and adaptor range, this keeps stockholding simple across a mixed door schedule - one primary lock body covers many functions.
An escape lock keeps the inside handle free at all times, which is why it suits fire and egress doors where people must always be able to get out. The standard 3772 is certified to AS1905.1:2005 up to 4 hours, but holdback functions are not fire door rated because they can defeat self-latching. When specifying for a fire door, confirm the doorset, closer, hinges and strike are all certified together. Background reading: Chapter 05 - fire door core types, fire door compliance requirements, and the compliant fire-rated deadlatch principle.
AS4145.2 is the Australian standard for mechanical locksets, grading durability (D), security (S), corrosion (C) and key security (K). The Selector® 3772 is a durability-graded commercial lock rated D8 (the highest durability tier, tested to 500,000 cycles) with security grade S7. For a plain-English breakdown of what each grade means, see Chapter 11 - AS4145.2 durability grading.
The lock takes Lockwood 570-type oval cylinders and integrates into restricted and master key systems. The cylinder is ordered separately so it can be cut and combinated to your site's keying schedule. For dual-entry (two outside cylinders) applications, use the 3777 dual-entry conversion kits listed above. Confirm cylinder and keying requirements with your locksmith before ordering.
Fire-rated and commercial mortice installations reward accurate door preparation - backset, hub position, faceplate rebate and strike alignment all have to be right. For larger schedules or fire door work, Terry's offers a supply, site survey and installation service on the Gold Coast. See professional supply & installation.
