Additional Information
The Lockwood Padde Single Series monitored electromagnetic locks cover a wide range of applications, with holding forces from approximately 200 kg up to 450 kg across the Z4 and Z8 models. These devices suit doors that must be monitored for both door position and lock status. From cupboard doors through to high-use commercial swing doors, Z-Series magnets provide a simple, robust and reliable fail-safe solution.
Installation is straightforward: the range supports timber, aluminium and steel constructions, and there are dedicated bracket options for glass door applications. The self-aligning armature pivots to accommodate door drop, reducing call-backs after settling or seasonal movement. Smart electronics ensure instantaneous release with zero residual magnetism, so the door opens cleanly on command without drag.
Specification Statement: The Single Series electromagnetic lock shall be housed in an aluminium case with heavy-duty electromagnet and operate in fail-safe mode (power to lock). The lock shall incorporate smart electronics that provide instantaneous release with zero residual magnetism. A self-aligning armature plate shall compensate for door drop. For monitored installations, reed switch door position monitoring and hall/bond monitoring of the lock status shall be available. Where life-safety or continuity of security is essential, a secondary mechanical lock or battery backup should be provided.
