Frequently Asked Questions
- Is this a locking set?
No. This is a passage kit, meaning the latch retracts by handle from either side and there is no key or privacy locking function. - Will this suit a narrow stile door?
It is commonly used where a short backset is required because the mortice lock is 23 mm backset, but the door preparation must suit the SB2212 lock body and 185 x 26 mm plate furniture. - What does AS1428.1 compliant lever mean in practice?
The lever design is intended to meet accessibility requirements in Australian fit-outs, but overall compliance depends on the complete door hardware set and installation.
Additional Information
- Short backset mortice locks are typically selected for narrow stile aluminium doors or joinery where standard backsets do not fit without weakening the stile.
- Because the plates are designed to fit back to back, installers usually check that the door face is flat and the stile width provides enough fixing edge distance around the 160 mm centres.
- On internal commercial doors, passage kits are often chosen for corridors and shared access doors where door control is handled by the building’s access system rather than a keyed lock.
