Borg Mech-Digital Scar Plates - Matt Black - Pack of 2 - Suits Borg 2000 and 4000 Series
BLSPLTMB is a pack of two matt black scar plates for Borg 2000 and 4000 Series mechanical digital locks. Borg sells the stainless steel BLSPLT plates for replacing a KNK entrance set with a Borg lock, and BLSPLTMB is their matt black listing: the plates cover the holes and marks the old hardware leaves, so the new keypad lock finishes neatly on the door. Our scar plate guide explains what a scar plate is and when you need one.
The plates go with Borg 2000 and 4000 Series keypad-only units from Keypads for Smartlocks and complete locks from Digital Mechanical Locks - the models are in the compatibility table below. You can browse scar and adaptor plates in Scar & Adaptor Plates, and Chapter 16 of our Buyer's Guide explains how battery-free mechanical digital locks work.
Usually ships same day if ordered before 11am AEST (excludes weekends and Queensland public holidays).

Frequently Asked Questions
They cover the holes and marks left on a door when old hardware comes off. These plates are sold for replacing a KNK entrance set with a Borg lock, so you need them when the new lock will not cover everything the entrance set left behind. Our guide covers what a scar plate is and when you need one.
Borg 2000 and 4000 Series locks and keypads. That covers keypad-only units such as BL2000KSCNEW, BL2301KSC and BL4401KMGPRO, and complete locks such as BL2000SC and BL2202SC - the full list is in the compatibility table above.
Choose the finish that suits your door hardware. The difference between the two listings is the finish: BLSPLTMB is matt black and BLSPLT is stainless steel, and both are sold for the same Borg 2000 and 4000 Series locks. Scar plate materials and finishes covers the choice in more detail.
Measure before you order. Compare the holes and marks on your door with the plate size in the Full Specifications - it is the outer size of the plate against the old cut-outs that matters, as why scar plate size matters explains. If it is close, ask us before ordering.
By the lock series they suit. BLSPLTMB suits Borg 2000 and 4000 Series locks; Borg 5000 Series locks take SPBL5001MB (black) or SPBL5001 (stainless steel). The whole plate and adaptor kit family is in the item code family table.
Additional Information
- Identify the hardware first: these plates are sold for replacing a KNK entrance set, so confirm what is on the door before you order - Chapter 02: Measuring Your Door shows how to identify existing hardware.
- Still choosing the lock: Borg 2000 and 4000 Series locks are mechanical digital locks that need no batteries. How a mechanical digital lock works and Lockwood vs Borg vs Carbine help you settle on the lock before you order its plates.
- Professional fitting: covering old cut-outs neatly is part of fitting the new lock. If you would rather not do it yourself, start with our advice and installation page, or read how a site survey and installation work with us.
- Borg spares and retrofit parts: these plates belong to the Borg spare parts and retrofit range we stock with the locks. Our comparison with hardware store imitations covers why spare parts and retrofit kits matter when you choose a mechanical digital lock.
Warranty
All Borg locks are warranted against mechanical defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and service for a minimum of 12 months from date of sale. The warranty does not cover damage arising from misuse, vandalism, or improper installation. The lock must not be dismantled - doing so will invalidate the warranty. Proof of purchase required for all claims.

BLSPLTMB Matt Black Scar Plates - FAQ, Fitting and Buying Guide

Choosing and Ordering
The Borg lock or keypad they go with - the pack holds the two matt black scar plates. Where a KNK entrance set is coming off the door, you are fitting a complete Borg lock in its place, such as BL2000SC (knob keypad and medium lever) or BL2301SC (lever), from Digital Mechanical Locks. Keypad-only units such as BL2000KSCNEW replace the keypad of a Borg lock or go with a Borg adaptor kit - browse Keypads for Smartlocks, and ask us if you are unsure which you need.
We cannot promise an exact colour match. If the plates will sit with a black Marine Grade Pro (MG Pro) keypad such as BL2601KMGPRO, BL4401KMGPRO or BL4401KMGPROECP, ask us about the shade before ordering. What MG Pro means is explained in our guide, and the stainless steel plates, BLSPLT, are the other option.
Check the lock's series first. These plates are sold for Borg 2000 and 4000 Series locks, and the compatibility table lists the models we match them to; how Borg names its models will help you place yours. A Borg 5000 Series lock takes SPBL5001MB or SPBL5001 instead. For a 2000 or 4000 Series model that is not listed, ask us before ordering.
Your Door, Measuring and Fitting
If the door has a Lockwood mortice lock or deadlatch, you may be able to keep it and fit a Borg keypad to it with an adaptor kit. Start by identifying the hardware - Chapter 02 covers mortice locks with lever furniture and mortice locks with long plates. For a Lockwood 3572 mortice lock the kit is BL3572KIT (or 09351550 with key override); for a Lockwood 3582 mortice lock it is BL3582KIT (or 09351500 with key override); for a Lockwood 002 deadlatch it is BL002KIT. Each kit suits Borg 2000 and 4000 Series keypads.
Yes, if you are comfortable fitting the Borg lock - the plates go on as part of that job, over the marks the old hardware left. When to do it yourself helps you decide, and common installation mistakes shows what to avoid. For a professional fit, use our advice and installation service or a qualified locksmith recommendation.
Sometimes. Scar plates are one of the creative fixes in Gate Post Too Narrow for a 60mm Latch?, and scar plates on gates and aluminium covers what to check. Whether these plates suit your post depends on its width, so measure the stile first and ask us before ordering.
Check with us first. We cannot confirm a fire rating for these plates, and any hardware change on a fire-rated door has to keep that door compliant. Our guide covers scar plates on fire doors - read it and talk to us before fitting anything to a fire door.
Keypads and Other Scar Plates
An Easicode Pro (ECP) keypad. ECP keypads such as BL2201KSCECP, BL2401KSCECP and BL4401KMGPROECP change code on the door (Borg ECP code change). Non-ECP keypads and locks, such as BL2000KSCNEW and BL2000SC, change code On The Bench (standard Borg code change). If you expect to re-code even yearly, choose ECP - do you need ECP? explains why.
Yes - a scar plate is chosen to suit its lock, so match the plate to the lock you are fitting. For example, the BDS 09351112 plate suits the Lockwood 530 Digital lock, and 09351450 suits Brava Urban and Lockwood 530 and 930 locksets. Our scar plate brand guide maps plates to locks, and you can browse more plates in Scar & Adaptor Plates.
