Hardware is covered by a 1 year warranty from shipment unless otherwise specified. Warranty excludes misuse, environmental damage, unauthorised modification and consumables. Liability limited to purchase price.
HID General Warranty Policy
This warranty applies to on-premise software and hardware sold by HID Global Corporation and its affiliated entities (“HID”), either directly or through an approved HID Channel Partner.
Warranties are solely for the benefit of the End Customer. Products purchased from non-approved resellers are not eligible for HID warranty coverage.
Where Product-Specific Warranty Terms apply, those terms prevail in the event of any conflict with this general policy.
General Warranty Coverage
- Software: 90 days from delivery or download. Covers defective media and substantial conformity to documentation.
- Hardware: 1 year from shipment unless otherwise specified in Exhibit A.
- Some HID products carry extended warranty periods as outlined in Exhibit A.
Replacement software is covered for the remainder of the original warranty period or 30 days, whichever is longer. Replacement hardware is covered for the remainder of the original warranty period or 90 days, whichever is longer.
Remedies
- Repair of hardware
- Replacement with new or refurbished equivalent product
- Credit toward future HID purchases
- Refund of license fee (software only, where repair/replacement is not possible)
Remedies apply only if HID is notified in writing within the applicable Warranty Period.
Return Merchandise Authorisation (RMA)
RMA procedures are governed by HID Product-Specific Support Terms. Shipping and insurance costs for warranty returns are the End Customer’s responsibility.
Warranty Exclusions
Warranty is void if products are:
- Improperly installed or altered
- Modified or repaired by unauthorised parties
- Used outside documented specifications
- Exposed to unsuitable environmental conditions
- Damaged by power surges, fire, rough handling or acts of God
- Used in criminal activity or regulatory violation
- Combined with non-approved third-party hardware or software
Consumables and wear items such as batteries, paper, silicon pads, cleaning materials, cables and printer cartridges are excluded.
Evaluation units, demo units and proof-of-concept products are not covered under warranty.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, HID disclaims all other warranties, express or implied, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.
HID shall not be liable for incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages including loss of profits, business interruption or data loss. Liability shall not exceed the purchase price of the product.
