ASSA ABLOY SMARTair i-gate Electronic Padlock R4 – Wireless Online, Openow BLE, HID iCLASS, IP68 (SNZBP3XI)

The ASSA ABLOY SMARTair i-gate electronic padlock is a commercial wireless access control solution designed for locations where traditional electronic locks cannot be installed. The padlock integrates a contactless credential reader, electronic controller and electromechanical clutch inside a sealed industrial padlock body.

This configuration (SNZBP3XI) supports the SMARTair Wireless Online architecture together with Openow smartphone credentials. Users can unlock the padlock using authorised HID iCLASS RFID credentials or Bluetooth-enabled smartphones.

When deployed as part of a SMARTair Wireless Online installation, the padlock communicates with system hubs which link locking devices to the SMARTair management platform. This allows access permissions to be updated in real time, while maintaining event audit trails and full credential management.

Outdoor Weather Rating Icon
Outdoor Use & Weather Tolerance

The SMARTair i-gate electronic padlock is designed for outdoor environments and carries an IP68 environmental protection rating. The sealed electronic module and protective rubber housing help protect internal components from dust, moisture and harsh weather conditions, making the padlock suitable for gates, infrastructure enclosures, cages and external equipment storage.

SMARTair i-gate padlock outdoor weather protection example

Important installation guidance for weatherproof performance:

  • The padlock must be installed vertically with the shackle facing upwards.
  • Weatherproof protection is guaranteed only while the shackle is fully closed.
  • Do not leave the padlock open when installed outdoors, as this compromises the environmental sealing.

Following these installation guidelines ensures the padlock maintains its rated environmental protection and long-term reliability in outdoor conditions.

  • Utilities and energy facilities
  • Data centre cages
  • Medical storage cabinets
  • Commercial plant rooms

Credential technology information icon
What's the difference between MIFARE and HID iCLASS?

Both MIFARE and HID iCLASS are secure RFID credential technologies used in commercial access control systems. The SMARTair i-gate padlock can be supplied with either reader type depending on the credential system already used in the building.

  • MIFARE is a widely used open RFID standard commonly deployed in access control, universities, transport cards and multi-application credential systems.
  • HID iCLASS is a proprietary HID credential platform typically used in enterprise security systems and facilities already using HID card technology.
  • The reader type must match the credential technology used by the building's existing access control cards or fobs.

If you are unsure which credential technology your site uses, our team can help identify compatibility before purchase.
